Stoops has recruited and developed numerous outstanding defensive backs, many of whom went on to National Football League careers. During his time on the coaching staff he worked under head coach Kirk Ferentz and defensive coordinator Phil Parker where the defense ranked fifth nationally in scoring defense a year ago while leading the Big Ten in interceptions in 2018.
